The 'Tarland Wizard' of Scottish fiddle, Paul Anderson, playing the James Scott Skinner composition "Back to the Hills" at the Aberdeen Arms in Tarland. This was on Saturday 4th February 2023 when Paul was performing to raise funds for the Scott Skinner monument project in Banchory. James 'Scott' Skinner was born on 5 August 1843 at Arbeadie Village in the Parish of Banchory-Ternan. He is considered one of the most influential fiddlers in Scottish traditional music and came to be known as the 'Strathspey King'. Skinner died in 1927 but his music lives on and Paul is leading efforts to raise funds for a bronze life-size statue in his hometown of Banchory, to ensure he is remembered by his fellow musicians and admirers for years to come.
