Cross Scissor Trip Takedown - A Mat Return for BJJ & MMA

The cross scissor trip is a takedown performed from the rear clinch or when you have the back of the opponent. It is often used as a mat return in wrestling when you are unable to step and lift and is a superior option to a simple tani otoshi or rear trip. The more common rear trip ends up with you and your opponent's hips hitting the mat at the same time which gives them an opportunity to initiate a scramble. But the cross scissor trip keeps you on your knees and your hips above the opponents when they land on the mat.
