Is it too late to clean up and divide my irises? Maybe so for this year, but I know this will at least help all the years to come. Irises are perennials, which means the bloom year after year, so any hard work you do now will pay off for years to come. It is not the ideal time to divide irises in January, but we have had a difficult couple years physically, so we do what we can and sometimes that means digging out of a pit of being behind on different gardening tasks. I am sure someone out there can relate! I always find so many life lessons in the garden, and while working on the iris flower garden bed in the winter, I was thinking about how it is such a picture of overcoming difficulties when we feel so far behind on life and have neglected things, possibly for very valid reasons! I would love to share both doing the gardening with you, and my thoughts as I work on my little NorCal garden. Growing flowers in your home garden has to work for you in whatever season you are in, but consistently doing something will pay off… there is never truly a too late. Homesteading and growing food and flowers is a lifestyle, so we do it in the little windows of time we have and imperfect is better than not doing it! We garden year round in northern California in our 9B zone, and we love to share our journey with you! Hope you can relate to our real family on our channel.
