No need to rewrite any software, or change from your preferred pulse output controller. There are two power classes for the ClearPath SD model- SDSK (Stepper Killer) and SDHP (High Power). The SDSK model is about 2-3 times the power of an equal sized stepper motor, but lower cost. The SDHP model is more expensive than an equal sized stepper motor, but has 8-15 times more the power. After making the switch from a stepper motor to ClearPath SD, your system will no longer miss steps and will run much more quietly, smoothly, and efficiently.
