Tahoe Vista BHO Lab Bust

Placer County Sheriff’s detectives were called out to the 200-block of Estates Drive in Tahoe Vista last Saturday, after the fire department extinguished a shed fire, believed to have been started by a Butane Honey Oil lab. Detectives were able to dismantle the sophisticated lab after shutting off power to the home. Fortunately, the fire department was able to knock down the flames before they spread to other structures. BHO lab fires often result in explosions; one of our Special Operations detectives adds, “BHO lab fires are like bombs going off — the roof will typically fly off — that’s how powerful the explosions are.” We are fortunate this fire did not occur during the hot summer months with North winds present, as the fire could have easily become uncontrollable. One person has been taken into custody at this time.
