A Pinball tilt bob is a free-swinging pendulum surrounded by a metal ring. The ring and pendulum are connected with wires and when the pendulum touches the ring, the circuit is closed, and a tilt (warning) is displayed on the screen. If you register too many tilts, the machine will (temporarily) shut down and you’ll lose your current ball. The number of tilts or warnings (given before you lose your ball) can be changed inside the software. The sensitivity of the tilt bob can be changed by moving the bob part up (high sensitivity) or down (allows more vigorous shaking). A tilt bob is NOT the same as a slam tilt mechanism. This is a separate device which protects against significant vigorous and aggressive play (like kicking or slamming the machine with a fist). There’s no need to install a slam tilt device in my machine although I have registered a slam tilt in real life ;)
