Comedian and impressionist, Mario Rosenstock recounts performing a private show for José Mourinho and his Chelsea F.C. players. He entertained the manager with his impressions of former Ireland football coaches Mick McCarthy and Steve Staunton and discussed the "invincibility" of the legendary Irish footballer, Roy Keane. Mario Rosenstock was presented with Honorary Life Membership of the UCD Law Society on 16 September 2015. One Ireland's best known political satirists and comedians, he first came to the attention of the public playing Dr David Hanlon in Irish television drama, Glenroe during the 1990s, but soon after the formation of Radio Ireland in 1997 became involved with writing and performing comedy sketches. He created ‘Gift Grub’ for ‘The Ian Dempsey Breakfast Show’ where it premiered on May 03, 1999. While releasing numerous best selling ‘Gift Grub’ albums, Mario continued to act in film and on stage. His films Include ‘Miracle at Midnight’ with Mia Farrow, and ‘Pride and Joy’ (2006). On stage he performed the title role of ‘Keano’ in the box office smash ‘I, Keano’ in 2005. In 2009, Mario scored a huge box office hit with the ‘Gift Grub Live’ stage show which he developed with Ian Dempsey. Selling over 45,000 tickets the show performed 2 sold out nationwide tours, culminating in five sold out performances at the Grand Canal Theatre in Dublin and a best selling DVD. He has won the PPI national radio award for ‘Gift Grub’ on six different occasions. In 2011, he won the PPI Outstanding Achievement Award. In 2005, he was awarded Magill magazines ‘Political Satirist of the Year’ and in 2010 Joe.ie ‘funniest man of the Year’ and in 2012 he finally brought his many characters to TV in his sketch show called The Mario Rosenstock show on RTE 2.
