Conquering the Karunjie Track: A 4WD Adventure in the Kimberley 🚙🌄 Join us as we tackle the wild and rugged Karunjie Track*, a must-drive shortcut from the iconic *Pentecost River Crossing to Wyndham in the remote Kimberley region of Western Australia. The Journey Begins: 🌅 We started with a peaceful night by the Pentecost River, enjoying glowing views of the Cockburn Ranges under a stunning Kimberley sunset. Navigating the Track: 🚧 Things get bumpy fast! The track features dried creek beds, rocky inclines, sandy patches, and bull dust. Gates along the way remind travelers to respect the land by leaving them as they were. 🌊 Track Changes: Seasonal floods reshape the route yearly, with washed-out sections requiring some backtracking to find the safest path forward. 🛤️ Mudflats Marvels: The expansive mudflats are a highlight, offering easy driving and breathtaking views of the Cockburn Ranges. Don’t miss our drone shots capturing this epic scenery! Final Stretch: 🚪 After passing a few more gates, the track ends, and options include camping at Diggers Rest Station or exploring nearby attractions on King River Road: Prison Boab Tree: Once used to hold Aboriginal prisoners en route to Wyndham jail. Rock Art: Extensive collections showcasing ancient Indigenous culture. Moochalabra Dam: The freshwater supply for Wyndham, surrounded by natural beauty. The road crosses a massive mudflat before joining the Great Northern Highway.
