It's a very good day for an infinitely silly zipper song with a special guest and a dog! Julie Boehler wins a special prize in my heart for requesting that Woofy join us on this video. "It's a Very Good Day" doesn't necessarily have to turn into a silly song- you could stick with words like "rain," "love," "joy," and "peace" and it would be a perfect sing-along song that got everyone's energy up without letting it get too goofy- but neither Julie nor I is really that kind of teacher, so we veered towards making ourselves laugh. I could also see this being a great long car ride song for young children, or if you had the space, it might be fun to act out what you would do if ice cream fell from the sky, or dogs, or elephants. The sky's the limit! (Ooh, bad pun, sorry.) As for my fabulous guest, Julie Boehler is the Director of Choral Activities at both Canyon and Creekside Middle Schools in Castro Valley and loves working with middle school students! Additionally, she enjoys singing as a Soprano with 21V under the direction of Martín Benvenuto. Previously, she sang with choirs such as Cappella SF and San Francisco Symphony Chorus both under the direction of Ragnar Bohlin as well as other freelance choir work and solo engagements. When she’s not making music, she enjoys spending time with her husband and their two daughters. Julie holds a B.M. in Music Education and a B.M. in Vocal Performance from the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music at California State University Long Beach.
