My name’s Damian. I’m a bartender here at Liquid Kitty in West LA California. And today we’re gonna talk a little bit about a drink called painkiller. Painkiller is one of those tiki style rum drinks that was created in 20’s or 30’s. Another story of Don The Beachcomber or Trader Sams. Not really sure, excuse me, Trader Vic’s. Not really sure who developed the drink. There’s a lot of in fighting, one bar will say they did it, another bar will say they did it. [“Painkiller” is also a 1990-gold certified by british heavy metal band judas Priest] But it’s another rum-style drink. Coconut-y and it can be served either on the rocks or blended. Today for our purpose we’re gonna make it on the rocks. We’re gonna take a rocks glass, fill it with ice. About an ounce and a half, maybe an ounce and three quarters of dark rum. [1 ½ oz of Dark Rum] Little bit of OJ [Splash of Orange Juice] Little bit of pineapple juice [Splash of Pineapple Juice] And a little bit cream of coconut [Splash of coconut cream] Give it a good shake cause the cream of coconut is very thick. It’s usually made in blended drinks. I like it on the rocks. It gives a little kind of flavor. If you want you can use crushed-ice as well, that makes it even more interesting. You want to give it a good shake because of the thickness of the coconut juice. A little orange and cherry and that’s a painkiller.
