To prepare for a disaster event, UC Davis Health conducted an emergency disaster preparedness exercise that involved more than 100 staff members and emergency responders from the community.The scenario for the exercise was a passenger plane crashed on its final approach into Sacramento International Airport. During the drill, over 50 mock patients arrived at the UC Davis Health Department of Emergency Medicine with various injuries, including polytrauma, blunt trauma, penetrating trauma and burn injuries. This exercise tested the department's emergency management plans, trained staff and helped improve the medical center's ability to deal with disasters.
