Many people will develop cataracts as they age. This video describes some of the underlying causes of cataract which modern science has discovered so far. It turns out that the ancient doctors of India had described the same things thousands of years ago. There are several reasons cataracts may develop: from denatured or oxidized proteins clogging the delicate micro channels of the eyes, which prevents the influx of nutrients into the lens of the eyes and the outward flow of toxins coming from them. The ancient doctors talked about several ways these delicate micro channels of the body could clog up and how to remove the debris from these channels. The research shows that insoluble calcium crystals build up in the lens at an alarming rate once these physical channels clog up. The calcium gets deposited into the lens which clouds it over, forming cataracts. Ayurveda already knew that whatever calcium supplement we take it should have two important qualities: that it came from nature, such as pearls, shells and coral and that it be incinerated for 3 months to make the molecules small enough to travel in and out of these channels without getting stuck. It turns out that most of the calcium supplements on the market nowadays are synthetically made, with no prana or life energy and the molecules are indeed too big to be transported against delicate cell membranes and in fact remain stuck in the channels, creating a buildup of this dangerous type of calcium. The research also shows how there are gaps in between the cells which also govern the flow of nutrients into and toxins out of the cells. If these gaps get clogged, cataracts can form as the oxidized proteins, calcium and other toxic crystals build up in the lens. Again, the textbooks of Ayurveda talked at great length about the gaps in between the tissues and cells, where important transformations take place and not only what might happen if they get clogged, but how to prevent it in the first place and now what to do about it once it gets clogged up. We have numerous remedies to displace the toxins and unintelligent calcium out of the body, ways to detox the toxins known as ama visha and gar visha out of the body, which can also crystallize and deposit various places around the body, such as the lens. This is a great video for those of you who think Ayurveda is an ancient system which is irrelevant in this modern world. The opposite is true: modern research is continually discovering what the ancients already knew, and it is definitely apparent when it comes to cataract prevention and treatment.
