Today's siren test was quite interesting. I decided to go to the power plant here in Independence to record the 2001 and the Thunderbolt together. The 2001 fired up immediately at the start of the video and ran for three minutes of alert. After it shut down, I expected the Thunderbolt to run next, but it didn't activate. After turning off the camera (expecting to be done with testing) I waited another minute just to see if the old Bolt would do anything. But after more silence, I decided to start riding home. As I was already leaving, the 2001 unexpectedly sprang back to life again. Immediately turning back around and racing back to my recording spot (not to be in the way of traffic) I captured some more 2001 action. After it wound down, the Thunderbolt still did nothing even after turning off the camera again. Also at the end of the video I did say that I was going to Lee's Summit for another siren test but I later figured out that they already tested. This Thunderbolt 1000T is now the last remaining Thunderbolt siren in Independence. Since it is mounted up high it can be heard clearly in my other 2001 video along with the other Thunderbolt failure video when the T-Bolt 1000 was still on top of the Bank Of America building. A few days before this test I had the strange feeling about the Thunderbolt in this video possibly being switched off. Now seeing this happening, it could be possible that the Thunderbolt in this video may have been deactivated even though last time the sirens ran, I heard this thing run loud and clearly from the middle of downtown Independence. My theory is that when the T-Bolt 1000 got replaced by the Federal Signal DSA, they may have finally shut down the old system which the Thunderbolts ran on. I will continue to go record sirens here in Independence and in other places as well. If the Thunderbolt 1000T comes back to life, I will capture some footage of it. As always, thanks for watching! (Update 9/6/17. The Thunderbolt 1000T is no longer active as it has not rotated since testing in March.)
