Solo in Georgia — A Country Between East and West

On my way back to Europe, I stopped in Georgia, a former Soviet country still caught between East and West. After becoming an official EU candidate in 2023, the government shifted back toward a pro-Russian course in 2024. To this day, protests and politically motivated imprisonments remain common. Still, the country and its capital, Tbilisi, have much to offer. With a history spanning over 1,500 years, traces of its Soviet past, and ongoing political tensions, there’s a lot to uncover. As I take you through this picturesque city, I’ll also share what might be one of my favorite cuisines in the world: Georgian food — rich, cheesy, and famous for its khachapuri and khinkali.
