The gardens curator David Pearce talks through a selection of hardy palms that are able to provide tropical foliage in gardens that experience cooler winters. These cold tolerant palm trees will thrive in temperatures below freezing and could be eventually grow into tree sized proportions! We also look at rare palm trees, some of which are growing surprisingly fast or showing unexpected tolerance to colder weather.
