According to a new datamine in February of 2022 done by Anubis on Twitter, we have been shiny hunting the wrong way for years and didn't even know it! What's worse is we were lied to for years! If you're upset at hearing this then you're in good company because this was very upsetting to me and I didn't believe it until I looked into the information myself. Original Tweet by Anubis:   / 1495426743343194117   First off, there was no game update at any point in time. This is how it was the entire time since the game launched. The original data mine info was WRONG. Plain and simple, nothing has changed and it was always like this, but we just didn't know. The only real difference this will make in your shiny hunting is that you need to keep catching the Pokemon you are targeting. Most of us thought you can just get a 31 combo and then sit back and wait for the shiny to spawn. While that will still work because Let's Go has such good odds, it won't give you the best odds possible by doing that. This does not mean that you are shiny hunting at full odds if you don't keep catching after 31 combo. I think a lot of people are confused about that. Lure and Shiny Charm will still give you 1/1024 odds on ALL WILD SPAWNS in the game. Those are some amazing odds. Full odds is 1/4096 but the lure and shiny charm give you 4 shiny rolls which makes it 1/1024 odds. If you're looking for the 1/273 odds that you get at 31 combo then you'll need to keep catching the Pokemon you are targeting to keep getting those odds one spawn at a time. Only the Pokemon you have combo for will get the 1/273 odds after you catch one and increase the combo and it will only be one at a time. So even if more of that species keep spawning only the one that spawns after each catch will have the best odds the rest of them will have the 1/1024 odds. No matter what you think about this, the video speaks for itself. If you can't understand the code don't worry because I explained it clearly in this video. 4096 divided by 15 is 273. The only spawn that gets the 15 rolls instead of 4 rolls is the one that spawns after you catch and increase your combo. Everything else gets 4 rolls. The video shows it clearly and even Serebii updated their shiny odds page because this is the truth.
