As reported by RIA Novosti, Deputy Finance Minister Vladimir Kolychev stated that over the past six years the expenditure side of the budget has grown from 16.6% of GDP to 19.7% of GDP, including due to defense spending, whose share has reached 30% of the budget — a record since Soviet times. At the same time, revenues relative to the size of the economy have decreased — from 18.4% of GDP to 17.1% of GDP.
