Primitive Pine Pitch Glue Stick made with stone age tools

Today I want to make a pine pitch glue stick using primitive tools and techniques. Besides being an excellent adhesive, Pitch Glue can also be used as a primitive substitute for plastic as well as filler materials for patching holes. So first, I find a smooth grinding stone. Then I grab some wood charcoals from a previous fire. And I use the stone to grind the charcoal into a very fine black powder. The finer the better. Next, we find a pine tree. You'll notice Pine sap oozing out of the tree at various spots. I lighter, softer lumps of pine pitch that are free of bark, pine needles and other impurities. I used a damp piece of tree bark and a stick to gather the pine pitch, and I prefer to make 2 lumps of pitch of equal size. Next we need to find a primitive container. In my part of the world there are lots of shells. If there are no shells, you can consider using a a hollow bone fragment or even wet curled piece of bark. Now we move one lump of pine pitch into our shell. Next we get ourselves a quartz flake. Quartz can be found all over the place and striking a quartz cobble will produce these sharp flakes. We take the flake and we scrap it along a piece of wood. This produces many extremely fine wood shavings and curls. We use these wood shavings as tinder to start a fire, and use the first lump of pitch to extend that fire. Once the fire is going strong, we place the shell next to that fire. In just a few minutes the pitch in the shell goes into liquid form. And now we add in the charcoal powder. We want to mix the powder into the pitch very well. Finally we gather the mixture onto a wooden stick. And we set this stick to cool off. After just 10 minutes, the pitch glue stick is cooled off and ready to be used.
