Jellon Grame Broadside Electric With Teeth Child Ballad #90 In the ballad that Child collected, a woman meets her lover in the woods and despite her pleas for her life and for her unborn baby's life, her lover kills her. He cuts her open and takes his baby son, raising him as his sister's son. Later the boy wants to know about his mother and Jellon Grame tells him the truth. His sons kills him immediately. In Broadside Electric's rendition the story is much the same, with some slight differences. The woman goes to meet Jellon Grame, her lover, and when she sees that he intends to kill her she pleads for her life. He stricks her with his sword and with her dying breath she curses him that the baby will be more hers than his. He denies the curse and says that although she fed their baby blood, he will feed her milk and mead. In this version the baby is a girl. There is something magical about the baby girl, she grows to age twenty in two years. She and her father are close, hunting together often. One day while out hunting they come to same greenwood where her mother was killed. She questions her father on why her mother never comes for her. Jellon Grame tells her the truth. The girl takes up her bow and arrow and kills her father.
