UNI Track & Field 2025 MVC Indoor Track & Field All-MVC Recap UNI senior Carter Morton competed in the heptathlon at the NCAA Indoor track and field championships to finish indoor season. He earned First Team All-American recognition for his 5th place finish. He also becomes the first Panther to earn First Team All-American during the indoor season since Tyler Mulder in 2009. It was a fitting end to the indoor season, as we now look back at all the Panthers who earned All-Conference at the MVC Indoor Championships. Full Show: • Panther Sports Talk - Show 32, Mar. 2... Originally aired on "Panther Sports Talk" © Around The Corner Productions University of Northern Iowa, UNI Panthers Katy Stephens won the heptathlon) with a career-best score of 3,859 points. She defended her 2024 title and is the first repeat winner of the event at the conference meet since 2021. Panther Joey Perry finished in third with 3,695 points, Brendan Safley reclaimed the title in the pole vault. Winning in 2021, and finishing runner up in ’23 & ’24 Brendan just over 17’ 10 inches to claim the title. Carter Pheifer finished 3rd. Carter Morton won his first event of the weekend when he won the long jump with a leap of 24 feet, 9 inches. His second indoor Long Jump Title, also winning in 2023. Carter also reclaimed a title he won in 2023, the triple jump, and he added a High Jump Title to be a triple champion…helping earn him the men’s Most Outstanding Field Athlete honor. Panther shot putter Katie Fare was named the Women’s Most Outstanding Field Athlete winning the shot put with a UNI school record toss over 56 feet 6 inches. The men’s shot put saw Spencer Kessel take runner up and Sebastian Swistak finish 3rd. Josie Moreland a sophomore won the high jump for her first All-MVC honor. Hunter May-nock’s first All-MVC honor came with his first title, winning the 60 meter hurdles, with a 8 – 04. Teammate Drew Bartels took 3rd. In the heptathlon, Zach Butcher went over 5,300 points to take runner up honors. On the track, Parker Kiewiet ran a 47.12 in the 400 to earn runner up in the conference, and then took third place in the 200 running 21.27. In the men’s 800 Drake Hansen came in third in a photo finish with teammate Chase Knoche for a podium spot. The Panther men’s 4x400 team over Zach Fall, Kiewiet, Hanson and Knoche powered UNI to a runner up finish to end the meet and secure UNI’s team title on the men’s side. UNI last won the team title in 2021, and extended their MVC record to 15 indoor team titles. The UNI women took a 3rd place finish. This years UNI track and field set 11 Top 5 school marks on the season including 2 school records. Northern Iowa has now won a record 15 MVC indoor team titles on the men's side, two more than Southern Illinois. Morton was also named the men's Most Outstanding Athlete, as well as men's Most Outstanding Field Athlete of the meet.
