July 8th on Treasure Island, Texas, a small community approximately 20 miles south of Galveston. The community is along the San Luis Pass inlet. An area where water travels between West Bay and the Gulf Of Mexico. Tidal currents and ocean swell become very strong in this inlet. This town was also flooded and the infrastructure was damaged two weeks prior to this during tropical storm Alberto. We have footage of this in the archives. This location received some of the strongest impacts during hurricane Beryl due to it being just to the East of the eye and taking a direct hit from the NE Eyewall Quadrant which maximizes the time onshore wind was able to push surge into the area. Eye-wall approaching this location. Footage of streets and neighborhoods beginning to flood. 8:10-10:10 - 2:53 am-3:30 am Outer edge of eye-wall arrived. Storm surge 4-7 feet throughout the neighborhoods of Treasure Island. Hurricane force wind is occurring. 10:10-11:15 - 3:30 am Footage of Meteorologist Brett Adair’s truck illuminating the conditions. 11:15-11:50 - 3:40 am The entrance to Treasure Island and town sign inundated with surge and waves. 11:50-12:23 - 3:50 am Signs flapping in the wind. 12:23-13:17 - 4:04 am Eye-wall fully underway at this location. Severe storm surge pummeling the community of Treasure Island. Footage of waves and wind. 13:17-15:40 - 4:18 am-4:30 am 15:40-15:55 - 4:47 am Likely some of the strongest wind in this footage.
