Fishing rod blanks are often rated in tons - 24T, 30/36T, 36T, 40T or more. 24 Ton is stronger but not as light or sensitive. 40 Ton is light and sensitive but not as strong. Spigot ferrule joints are often used in higher end rods and fly rods. The key elements of the fishing line guides are the material of the guide, such as stainless or Titanium, etc. and can reduce weight or add weight. Some guides are single foot, some are double foot. Thick stainless steel guides are often used on cheap rods Alconite is good material, there are also regular ceramic rings and even Silicone Carbide rings, which are very hard and thin and great for braid fishing line, but are much more expensive.
