Ooof, this one hurt, but it was a successful test, so I'm very pleased with it. Goal was simple; my target reps per min for a comp is 8rpm. So no chasing max numbers for this one, no sprints, no heroics, just mechanical total focus on maintaining 8rpm with sound technique. It got ugly in minutes 4-6, but still hit 48 reps in the end, right on target. In a full 10' comp, currently, I doubt extremely I would've been able to sustain 8rpm much longer than that, I would certainly start minute 7 utterly smoked and almost certainly slow down to 7 or even 6rpm. Still, this is big proof of progress with my program, and a big confidence boost for upcoming comps; knowing I can sustain 6' at target pace gets me quite close to my goal, even if I slowed down to 7rpm in the last 4 minutes of a comp set, I will probably hit my goal (72-75 reps in 10'). So, target set, target hit, good session, much pain.
