Rest in Peace, Sinéad. Sinéad O'Connor plays her song "The Emperor's New Clothes" live in concert before a sold-out crowd at August Hall in San Francisco, California on February 7, 2020. The Emperor's New Clothes originally appeared on O'Connor's second studio album, I Do Not Want What I Haven't Got (1990). Joining her onstage were Jackie Rainey (guitar), Phil Edgar (guitar), Darren Campbell (bass), John McCullough (keyboards), and Eamon Ferris (drums). This tour, The 786 Tour, marked O'Connor's first shows in North America since 2014. It was an "underplay" tour--playing smaller venues to generate buzz ahead of her planned new album--and the strategy was working. The shows sold out in minutes and Sinead got attention in social media and the mainstream media. But the pandemic shut down the tour midstream. Sinead then struggled with mental health issues and the death of her son, and never released another album. ========================= The 786 Tour - Live Tour Dates (2020): 02/04 – Seattle, WA @ Neptune Theatre 02/05 – Portland, OR @ Crystal Ballroom 02/07 – San Francisco, CA @ August Hall 02/08 – San Juan Capistrano, CA @ The Coach House 02/09 – Los Angeles, CA @ El Rey Theatre 02/11 – Solana Beach, CA @ Belly Up Tavern 02/12 – Santa Cruz, CA @ Rio Theatre 03/14 – Chicago, IL @ City Winery 03/15 – Chicago, IL @ City Winery 03/16 – Chicago, IL @ City Winery 03/19 – Nashville, TN @ City Winery 03/20 – Nashville, TN @ City Winery 03/22 – Atlanta, GA @ City Winery Atlanta 03/23 – Atlanta, GA @ City Winery Atlanta 04/04 – Philadelphia, PA @ City Winery 04/05 – Philadelphia, PA @ City Winery 04/07 – Alexandria, VA @ Birchmere 04/08 – Boston, MA @ City Winery Boston 04/10 – Boston, MA @ City Winery Boston 04/11 – Boston, MA @ City Winery Boston 04/13 – New York, NY @ City Winery 04/14 – New York, NY @ City Winery 04/16 – New York, NY @ City Winery ====================== Sinead O'Connor official bio: Having left the stage four years ago on a journey of self-renewal, Sinead O’Connor returns to the stage; importantly, to the international stage, beginning with a string of select US dates to what promises to be an exciting 2020, seeing Sinead finally return to North America. Upon announcement of her Irish tour dates for October 2019, so passionate and enthusiastic was the response that tickets were sold out within an hour. Following her appearance on Ireland’s premier talk show, “The Late Late Show” on the 6th of September and the subsequent global viral reaction, demand to see Sinead O’Connor live became overwhelming and so it’s with great pleasure we can announce new US Tour dates, her first for almost six years. An artist beyond comparison - unique, uncompromising, a pioneer, a visionary are just some of the descriptions that might only touch the surface of Sinead O’Connor. Embodying a voice with beauty and innocence, a spirit part punk, part mystic with a combined fearlessness and gentle authenticity. This voice as Sinead’s unique expression would be echoed in the voices of other artists who she would inspire who came after. Chart topping singles, hit albums, numerous awards an array of collaborations later and Sinead’s spiritual journey would lead her through a turbulent, troubled and restless existence to find solace in Islam. This year marks the return of Sinead O’Connor and a new beginning that will see Sinead bring out new music and tour the world once again as one of the true and original living greats of our time. ============================= The Emperor's New Clothes lyrics: It seems years since you held the baby While I wrecked the bedroom You said it was dangerous after Sunday And I knew you loved me He thinks I just became famous And that's sure to mess me up But he's wrong How could I possibly know what I want When I was only twenty-one? There's millions of people Who offer advice and say how I should be But they're twisted and they will never be Any influence on me But you will always be You will always be If I treated you mean I really didn't mean to But you know how it is And how a pregnancy can change you I see plenty of clothes that I like But I won't go anywhere nice for a while All I want to do is just sit here And write it all down and rest for a while I can't bear to be in another city One where you are not I would return to nothing without you If I'm your girlfriend or not Maybe I was mean But I really don't think so You asked if I'm scared and I said so Everyone can see what's going on They laugh 'cause they know they're untouchable Not because what I said was wrong Whatever it may bring I will live by my own policies I will sleep with a clear conscience I will sleep in peace Maybe it sounds mean But I really don't think so You asked for the truth, and I Told you Through their own words They will be exposed They've got a severe case of The emperor's new clothes The emperor's new clothes Emperor's new clothes The emperor's new clothes Written by Sinéad O'Connor
