Bluetooth LED Grow Lights

Lights that are optimal for growing vegetation do not necessarily need to come from your garden store. Two common retail sources of suitable lights can be found in shop lights, and off-road automotive lights, and are usually cheaper because they are mass produced for a larger target audience. Recently, we came across a TypeS weatherproof Bluetooth controlled off-road light that caught our attention because in addition to a bright white 6500 Kelvin spot that boasted 4700 lumens, you could also select colour combinations of blue, red, etc. by combining 21 white LED's with 21 multicolor LED's while being powered with 12V DC and drawing a maximum of 136 watts (the manual says the maximum draw is 5.5A, so I assume that when all 42 LED's are activated, the bright white LED's are only producing 2350 lumens). This video illustrates the pros and cons of using such a light over a 2400 lumen shop light, and a popular style of blue/red hanging hood in a covered raised garden bed where vegetables are planted in a Zone 2 environment. Pros: -Bluetooth controlled with free app for Android and IOS -Ability to choose LED color ratio of blue to red (although there seem to be credible videos on Youtube that claim there is no advantage for blue/red over full spectrum LED's at any of the growth phases). -Good mounting hardware and form factor. -Weatherproof Cons: -Price (Approx $150.00 CAD, which would buy 3 2400 lumen 6500K COB LED shop lights) -Bluetooth connection is unreliable with frequent disconnects and shutoffs of LED's. -Needs 12v power supply -Inability to control on/off with standard AC timer (although you may be able to control the 12V power supply with timer, but that will probably cause BT connection and pairing problems each time there is a power interruption) -Tight focus on spot lens pattern, which would require you to manually adjust the bar's aspect angle on a daily basis to cover a wider area. Conclusion: It would be more cost effective to purchase 3x 6500K shop lights that would cost the same. As illustrated in the video, the mounting hardware on the shop lights is equally suitable for a greenhouse or (covered) raised garden bed, and offer the additional ability to be controlled with an AC timer. Update: Both the red shop light and the Bluetooth LED bar were returned to Costco. In the end I was able to get 6 packs of 4' 6500 Kelvin 2200lm LED shop lights from Amazon for $60.00 CAD and build a suspended grid of 8 of them that covered the whole hoop house. In the winter I use them inside my hydroponic closets indoors and they are working well.
