Revenge at Overton! Runs, Wickets & Family Comebacks | Ropley CC Highlights

Earlier this season, Overton bowled us out for just 149 and took the win with ease. But on July 5th, we returned to their ground with a stronger side, a better mindset — and a point to prove. Batting first, almost every player reached double figures as we posted 236 all out. Chuck Carey, playing just his second game back after a long break, cracked a brilliant 26. His son Spencer added a confident 21 — a proud day for the family. Jack also returned to the game after time away, batting whilst his dad Jon umpired and making a calm 24. Most of our wickets were bowled — Overton’s attack was accurate — but the intent, partnerships, and positivity throughout the innings told a very different story to the reverse fixture. With the ball, we made early inroads before Ollie and Andrew built a dangerous partnership, taking Overton from 61 to 153. But once that was broken, the momentum shifted. We held them to 182–8 in a well-fought and disciplined bowling display, with a mix of bowled and caught dismissals. A match full of energy, family connections, redemption — and proper village cricket spirit.
