2015 OCSA Commitment to Care Award - Volunteer Administration - Hospice Toronto

Hospice Toronto (HT) relies on volunteers to provide our services and programs in support of our motto, “adding life to days”. Volunteers created our original organization and its volunteers who have enabled us to deliver a breadth of services to the community at no charge. In 1985 a group of people came together to care for a friend, Margaret Fraser by supporting her wish to die peacefully at home. Margaret’s story is the inspiration and seed of Hospice Toronto, as members of this initial Care Team went on to form Trinity Hospice Toronto in 1988: Toronto’s first not for profit, community and volunteer-based, in-home hospice palliative care program.
