Congress Comes to CA Cannabis Cup for First Time in History

In May 2014 the Rohrabacher-Farr medical marijuana amendment was passed into law, the first significant federal victory for the medical marijuana movement. The amendment was defeated six times before ultimately passing in 2014. It was the first first time in history either chamber of Congress ever voted in favor of a measure to relax federal marijuana laws. The law now stops the DEA from spending money to prevent the implementation of state medical marijuana laws. In April 2016 the Congressman who drafted the legislation and was essential in implementing its passage attended the US High Times Cannabis Cup in California and delivered a historic speech. His name is Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA), and his visit marks the first time in history a US Congressman attended a California cannabis cup.
