The Jordanian Defence Company KADDB (King Abdullah Design and Development Bureau) unveils its new light 4x4 A Jordanian manufactured Al-Wahsh armoured personnel carrier has been spotted in Libyan National Army Service. The vehicle, equipped with a Snake Head turret, was seen in a video posted on 26 June by the Information Office of the General Command of the Libyan Armed Forces, which documented the fighting in the city of Derna. The Al-Wahsh is a relatively new 4x4 armoured personnel carrier (APC) developed by Jordan’s King Abdullah II Design and Development Bureau (KADDB). It was launched in 2016 and is based on a Czech Republic Tatra (4x4) cross-country chassis, with STANAG 4569 Level 1-2 armour. Eight passengers can be carried. Weapons and turrets can be mounted on the roof. The APC is powered by a 370hp diesel engine giving a top speed of 110km/h and a maximum range of 600 km. It is not clear how many of the APCs have been delivered to Libya. According to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute’s (SIPRI’s) Arms Transfers database, since 2015 Libya has received eight Typhoon APCs from Canada, probably from the UAE production line, four second hand Mi-24/Mi-35P helicopters via the UAE, five second hand MiG-21MF fighters from Egypt, 103 Panthera T6 armoured vehicles and ten N35 APCs from the UAE and ten Caiman APCs from either Egypt or the UAE.
