Nature Walk by YHAI Gangothri Unit,Mysuru...In association with Wild Mysuru “Trekking”- go on an arduous journey, typically on foot; is not just that to trekkers. It is hobby to some, passion for few and an emotion to rest. Begin the trek and reach the destination safely is considered to be a successful trek to the trekkers. The thrill, adventure and delight that they experience throughout the journey is unexplainable. During the travel, the trekkers usually do not observe the vista of beautiful nature, biodiversity that dwells around and fail to recognize the importance of the place. To make the trekkers aware of the presence of rich biodiversity around and the importance a “Nature Walk” program was organized by YHAI Gangothri Unit, Mysuru in association with Wild Mysuru. Around 40 participants of different age groups participated in the event held at Kukkarahalli Lake. Mr. Kiran Bagade, naturalist, Aranya outreach, was the resource person. The participants participated with enthusiasm and around 65 species of birds identified. Mr.Kiran explained about the birds, butterflies and importance of lake. 65 photographs of different birds, butterflies, insects and trees were put on display and explained. An interactive session lead to sharing and gaining of knowledge. The program was a success with joint participation of Wild Mysuru team, YHAI members and resource person.
