Lets first start off by saying these are Nikon's two most expensive offerings. The way I look at it is the D850 is a solid wedding, portrait, landscape, nature and even sports camera though the files are super huge. It's a well rounded camera that gives you amazing still and video capabilities. On the flip side the D5 is a flat out beast of a camera from build quality to speed to low light shooting. I love it for concerts, sports, portraits and pretty much anything I want to shoot. I do have access to both cameras but my go to is the Nikon D5. But a lot of this comes down to money. Can you afford to drop double the price of a D850 on a D5? At the end of the day you will not go wrong with either of the bodies.
