More than one year in the making, the CRTN documentary, "Behind The Veil" features interviews with Cuban exiles, journalists, religious leaders and young people, in an effort to piece together an understanding regarding the realities of daily life in one of the last Communist dictatorships. The 52-minute program considers: the rise of Fidel Castro; the present political and economic crises; the web of state controls and the human rights violations of political prisoners; the Beca school system and the breakdown of family life; the government policy favouring sexual tourism, and the struggle of the Catholics to live their faith in a communist ideology which does not suffer opposition.
