Dismantling the Milking Parlour

This week’s mission looked simple enough… but the barns had other ideas. Our plan was to clear out the last of the old electrics, pipework, cow muck, hay, weeds, and finally take down the old milking parlour that blocked the front of Barn 1. We also wanted to empty Barn 2 so it could finally become a clean storage space — and start moving those incredible reclaimed sleepers from the big cattle shed into dry storage for future projects. But of course… nothing in a barn conversion goes quite to plan. The milking parlour proved far tougher than expected. Our tools just didn’t have the power to cut through the old metal frame, so the final section will have to wait until we’ve got electricity on site and Dan can bring out his heavy-duty cutter.
