Dial Indexing Assembly System

This system is a dial based assembly system to complete assemblies at a rate of 1,600 parts per hour. The production rate is achieved by processing assemblies 2-up on a 4.5 second cycle. The assembly dial features 8 stations, each with 2 part nests. Parts are fed to the system via vibratory bowls, elevating hoppers provide extended run time and a lower bulk part load height. A Fanuc robot is utilized to load the barrels as well as to offload complete assemblies. The system assembles the plug and cap to the main barrel utilizing dual bowl escapements and servo driven part loading to the dial nests.
