Włodzimierz Kotonski: Aela (with score)

Kotonski's Aela is electronic music piece from 1970, produced together with Eugeniusz Rudnik in the studios of Polish Radio. It's an additive synthesis piece, made entirely of sine waves recorded individually on tape without the use any automation (no computer or voltage control). Dynamic curves for the oscillators were recorded using manual gestures during recording. The piece is a systematic aleatoric composition, in which each section uses different selections principles and ranges for the different parameters (frequency, amplitude, spatial location in stereo field, duration and entry time). The selection was realized by hand using dice. For more details, see the composer's notes (in the first seconds). This video is for educational purposes only.
