Detective Silence Solo, for solo bassoon, by Arnau Brichs

'Detective Silence' is the first result of an ongoing collaboration between bassoonist Olivia Palmer-Baker and composer Arnau Brichs. The first version of this piece - for bassoon and electronics - was premiered on the 27th August 2020 at the Royal Academy of Music, London. This piece contains materials discovered from Olivia's personal research, inspired from the sonic creations defined by bassoonist/contemporary specialist Lorelei Dowling and composer Pierluigi Billone. The developmental process of these materials had been influenced too by Arnau, who played a pivotal role in guiding the research process, and ultimately organised the materials - sensitively and meaningfully - to create this piece. The live premiere of this version will take place on the 11th June 2021 in Milan as part of the Divertimento Ensemble's 2021 season.
