Lunchtime Concert Series from the Great Hall of Imperial College London Hosted by the Blyth Centre for Music and Visual Arts Streamed live on 15 October 2020 London Serenata Julian Sperry flute Tristan Cox oboe Peter Sparks clarinet Philip Gibbon bassoon Alexia Cammish French horn Iain Farrington piano The members of London Serenata have been playing together for over twenty years as the wind section of Garsington Opera Orchestra. However, the ensemble itself was only born in 2019, when the orchestra was disbanded. Determined to continue playing together, the musicians took the opportunity to emerge from the opera pit as a concert ensemble, to branch out into new repertoire, and to share their music making with a wider audience. In today’s concert, they present an enticing programme of twentieth century French wind music. PROGRAMME Jean Françaix (1912-1997) L’Heure du Berger I. Les vieux beaux II. Pin-up girls III.
