The Side 2 Side | Part Eighteen | Beckington to Sells Green | Saying Goodbye to Somerset!

Part eighteen of my project to walk from Land's End to Ness Point - the furthest western point of England to the furthest eastern point. Back in the saddle! In May this year I went back down to Somerset to finish what I started in 2024 - my Side 2 Side challenge! I woke up feeling refreshed on day nineteen, and set off through fields to the attractive village of Rode. After passing through more countryside and facing a steep climb, I had stunning views of the green countryside, as I finally said goodbye to Somerset for good and walked into Wiltshire! After following a series of bridleways and quiet roads, I followed the Frome Road into Trowbridge, Wiltshire's capital city, where I found a Greggs for a break. I was glad to leave the noise of the city behind and pick up the canal, which I would be following for the rest of today and a few miles tomorrow. The canal provided easy walking and good views, plus some points of interest such as an old pillbox from the War. Today was another 14 mile day, although it felt easier than yesterday.
