"Within Japanese mythology, Amaterasu Omikami, the Goddess of the sun, had a younger brother named Susanoo-no-mikoto. Susanoo-no-mikoto was always going on rampages, causing trouble to those around him. One day Amaterasu Omikami could not tolerate his behavior anymore, so she locked herself up in a cave (now called Ama-no-Iwato). As soon as she hid behind the cave, the world became completely dark, and bad things began to happen one after another. Due to all the troubles, the other Gods held a meeting to resolve this problem, and decided to make a great commotion in front of the cave to lure Amaterasu Omikami out. The Goddess Amanouzume danced in front of the cave, and the surrounding gods watched and feasted. Amaterasu Omikami, anxious to see what was going on outside, slightly peaked out of the cave. As Amaterasu Omikami leaned forward to get a better look, she was pulled out of the cave with the help from the other Gods. As soon as she appeared outside again, the sun shone down on the earth, and the mountains and rivers regained their luster".
