In this movie the situation on this vessel between the men was contentious, divisive, even mutinous. But when it came down to all of them "being in the same boat", in this scene of peril, they would have to pull together to survive. This scene symbolizes that for me. That they finally realize united we have a better chance surviving, and divided we fall. All their differences evaporated now, all done without words. Perhaps something to reflect upon for all of us, the way our country is today? A lesson.
