This is Drass, considered the second coldest inhabited village in the world after Siberia. In winters, the temperature here often drops to -45°C. In the winter of 1995, the temperature here reached a record low of -60°C. So, welcome to Delhi To Drass episode 5. It gets so cold here that flowing rivers start to freeze, and wet clothes hung outside freeze instantly. Located in the Kargil district, this small village is situated on National Highway 1 between Zoji La Pass and Kargil. In winters, the village is covered in a blanket of snow; several layers of snow can be seen accumulated on the roofs of all the houses. But Drass is not just about natural beauty; it is also steeped in history. During the 1999 Kargil War, this area became the center of the conflict.
