From dream to reality at Cedars-Sinai: Enhancing patient safety through electronic health records and infusion integration. In 2002, Cedars-Sinai assembled 600 people, including the manufacturers of medical devices, to design a safer infusion delivery device that linked to patient’s health records. The results of that meeting resulted in EHR and Infusion Integration. This program has led to decreased hand-offs, greater accuracy in orders and enhanced tracking of the delivery of medications to patients. With these results this program has enhanced safety for patients and fostered a better environment for physicians, pharmacists and nurses to collaborate and work together.
