In November 2016 we visited Kamp Klamath while touring the redwoods of Californians northern coast. Visit Their Website - https://www.kampklamath.com/ The campground offers amenities for all styles of camping including full hookup 30 Amp, water and sewer sites for larger RV's. More rustic water and electric sites, and even remote tree covered sites for tents. There are even a few pull through sites for Large rigs in the full hookup section. The campground is situated along the wild and beautiful Klamath River about a mile from where it empties into the pacific ocean. A short hiking trail will take you down to the water from the campground. Chickens roam free in open areas and you can purchase their eggs at the campground convince store and gift shop. There is also a playground area, horseshoes and large deck where the summer entertainment happens. Every Saturday during the summer months is the time to visit as they hold a large all you can eat barbecue, with fresh local salmon, vegetables from their garden live music and a bonfire! Within just a short drive from the campground there is so much to explore. Less than a mile from the campground you will come to the mouth of the Klamath river. Here we watched seals and sea lions playing and fishing in the surf. Across the River you can drive to the overlook to take in the stunning view and spend some time watching for whales. We were sure to soak up the redwoods while we visited as well stopping at the trees of mystery to see their giant Paul Bunyan statue, amazing redwoods hike and excellent native american museum. There is also the drive through tree on your way down to prairie creek state park to see the giant redwoods and herds of elk. We also visited fern canyon which is a truly magical hike. During the summer there is even more to do as well, like enjoying the world class salmon fishing and jet boat rides along the coast. We enjoyed our stay at Kamp klamath and its excellent central location for visiting the wild rivers coast.
