Reports suggest that Pakistan is likely to receive up to $40 billion in financing over the next decade under a first-of-its-kind agreement with the World Bank. Out of that, 20 billion is meant for public projects, and the other 20 billion will go into private-sector investments, according to the reports. This comes just days after the IMF approved a one-billion-dollar loan to Pakistan. The IMF announcement came amid heightened tensions between India and Pakistan, following a deadly terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. In response, India launched Operation Sindoor, targeting terror camps inside Pakistan and accusing the country of harbouring terrorists. Beyond these accusations, Pakistan is also facing a severe economic crisis. It's one of the world's most vulnerable economies. The country owes around 131 billion dollars in external debt, and it needs to repay nearly 100 billion of that in just the next four years.
