Automower 305 - a first look.

The Automower 305 (new version, don't know why they didn't call it a 306?) has just been released and of course I just had to get one. Nice little mower for smaller lawns (600m²) but with all the functions of the larger models. It has the weather timer, profiles, automatic passage handling etc etc. It also has brand new functions like Frost Guard and systematic mowing of tight passages. This mower doesn't have any collision sensors either! Instead it relies on the resistance in the wheel motors to detect collisions. It can handle slopes of up to 45% (22°) and has terrain wheels as an optional extra, As the terrain wheels are significantly heavier than the standard wheels, there is a function in the accessories menu to tell the mower that the heavier wheels are installed, so it can compensate for the weight difference in detecting collisions. It comes with Bluetooth so it can connect to the Automower Connect app on smart devices using "Connect@Home" and I show how the pairing is acheived via Bluetooth. Then I rip everything apart to install the full Automower Connect board, giving access to the mower from anywhere in the world as long as you have cell coverage. It also gives the mower full GPS tracking and anti-theft zone, rendering the mower useless if removed from its working area. All in all a nice bit kit at a very reasonable price, considering all the functions it has.
