SkullPirates is a colorful and lighthearted beat ’em up that doesn’t try to offer a deep story or overly complex gameplay. You play as a skeleton. In each level, your goal is simple: beat up a certain number of steampunk-armored cats. At the end of every level, there’s a boss fight which, while not particularly innovative, constantly summons regular enemies to help out. And that’s pretty much it. The game also includes light RPG elements. You can spend the coins you collect to buy different weapons, hats, and “outfits” for your skeleton. These provide small stat bonuses, but for the most part, they’re mainly cosmetic.
