“We stack all of our hay loose," said Dennis Kirkpatrick, " just like we have forever.” “I don’t have any desire to join the modern world," he laughed. "To me, this is modern because we’re not using horses to put it up.” Dennis grew up stacking loose hay. His grandfather stacked loose hay on this ranch. Dennis sees no reason to change. “I’ve always liked the old ways," he said. "I'm just kind of wired that way, I guess.” Besides, he said, it's cheaper and more efficient. “We don’t want to have to go borrow a lot of money to buy big tractors and balers and swathers," he said. “We don’t carry a bank note on any of our equipment," said Mykal Kirkpatrick.
