Are you fed up with paying for endless bags of compost at your local garden centre? Do you wish you had a dirt mine of your own in your garden? If so, a composting system may be the solution to your dirt supply problems. In this video, I show the two-bin composting system in my garden. During the course of a year, one bin is filled with kitchen waste and soft-tissue plant material such as lawn clippings and fallen leaves. Meanwhile, the other bin is left to decompose. The fully decomposed compost can be used to fill pots for garden plants and spread atop the vegetable beds to enrich the soil. Kitchen scraps can attract rats and other vermin, so they are placed in the Bokashi composting bins for several weeks before being added to the main compost. Bokashi composting renders kitchen scraps inedible for vermin. What are your favourite composing hacks? Let me know in the comments.
