Pianist Andy Kahn performs "Tea For Two" on the late Vladimir Horowitz's personal Steinway 9 foot grand piano. This instrument, which Horowitz referred to as "my friend" traveled the globe with the artist when on tour or making recordings. Horowitz was mesmerized by the extraordinary jazz pianist Art Tatum. He was especially moved by Tatum's singular version of "Tea For Two," the 1925 composition by songwriters Vincent Youmans and Irving Caeser. Personally visiting Tatum who was performing at a club, Horowitz asked the jazz virtuoso if he could see Tatum's music on "Tea For Two." Art Tatum casually replied to the classical maestro, "Oh, that was improvised!" Vladimir Horowitz publicly performed his own version of "Tea For Two" on several occasions following his rendezvous with Art Tatum. It seemed fitting that "Tea For Two" would be one of several compositions which jazz and standards pianist Andy Kahn would perform on Vladimir Horowitz's personal piano during its visit to Jacobs Music Company Steinway Selection Center in Philadelphia in 2012.
