Leadership Development in Organization Development: A Conversation with John Scherer

In this video we are joined by John Scherer, a highly respected international speaker, consultant and change facilitator who has worked with leaders and organizations like Boeing, The US Army, The Government of Canada, Siemens, DHL, Microsoft and many others. John has an impressive record in educating and developing corporate executives, Community Leaders, and Change Facilitators from over 52 countries. His insights and conceptual rigour of what constitutes effective leaders has been translated into a world renown developing developers programmes. Since the first course in 1987, over 3,000 leaders have graduated from this Development Intensives. His most recent book, Five Questions that Change Everything, has been called ‘the best business self-help book ever written’ – and he is about to publish a new book, so stay tuned for that. Biography Dr John J. Scherer, BA (Honors), MDiv, LHD, was an Honors Graduate of Roanoke College and a Combat Officer in the US Navy. Ordained as a Lutheran Pastor, he served as a Street Minister to ‘people of the night’, then as Lutheran Chaplain at Cornell University, where he facilitated conflict and change using his Gestalt training and Family Systems Therapy concepts. He left the active ministry in 1973 to co-create America’s first competency-based graduate program in Applied Behavioural Science. A highly-respected international speaker, consultant and change facilitator, John has worked with leaders and their organizations like Boeing, Roche, The US Army, The Government of Canada, Siemens, DHL, Microsoft and many others. Executives, Community Leaders and Change Facilitators from 52 countries have graduated from his Executive/Leadership Development Intensives (EDI/LDI). His most recent book, Five Questions that Change Everything, has been called ‘the best business self-help book ever written’, and in 2012 he was honoured by the Stephen Covey Magazine as one of America’s Top 100 Thought Leaders in Personal/Leadership Development. His 2010 presentation to the graduating class of Roanoke College, his Alma Mater was selected by NPR for their list of ‘The Greatest 100 Commencement Addresses in America. Ever.’ A father of four, to ‘stay young’, John works out and does yoga daily, plays the guitar, still does the occasional magic show and loves a good spy novel. Working with a Network of Colleagues from 12 nations, he currently personally operates out of a base in Warsaw, Poland, with a mission of transforming the world at workTM.
